Prior to his position Dr. Hamisi Nikuli (M.Sc; Maj. Aquatic Medicine, Disease Epidemiology and Aquaculture; B.Sc. Vet; Dip. AH; Cert. AHP) had served in various senior positions in government including as Assistant Director (Mariculture) and Incharge of Aquatic Health - Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries. Before these positions, he had been serving as Acting District Executive Director - Newala District Council, Head of Department Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries - Newala District Council.
By virtue of the various senior positions he has held, Dr. Nikuli has also served as Board Member of the Tanzania Fisheries Research Institute (TAFIRI), Member of Research and Publication - TAFIRI, Member of Ministerial Tender Board, Secretary for Combating Corruption and Good Governance; and Appointed member of Experts for planning the implementation of FOCAC (2024) Agreements.
He has also served as an appointed member of the Regional Pool of Rapidly Deployable Experts - Public Health Emergencies, Focal Point for World Organization for Animal Health and FAO - Appointed Member of Three Aquatic Health Experts for assisting the development of the Mozambique Shrimp Channel Regional Strategy for White Spot Syndrome Disease control submitted to World Bank for facilitation.
